Which operating system do you think will be better, Apple's OS 10 or Microsoft's new operating system Vista? Windows' main advantage is that it has achieved such critical mass that everything works on Windows; any type of business related program is available on Windows - professional programs for preparing complex tax retuns; financial trading platforms from major brokerage firms - Fidelity, Scottrade, etc; programs for controlling every type of PDA; programs for working with every commercial delivery service; etc. ad nauseum.
Furthermore, while Firefox is probably a better browser, most websites with any sophisticated presentation method are optimized for Windows; every web interface is available in Windows - try using the moviefone preview clip on a standard Linux installation and see how much hair you have left after pulling most out of your head; every printer, scanner, combo printer-scanner-fax-coffee maker, has a windows control program.
